To hear the inspirations of the Holy Spirit
The course of the meditation: In order to hear the inner speech of the Holy Spirit, it is necessary to calm down completely. It is also necessary to renounce every sin, to repent. Bow to God who dwells in you first. Ask him then to speak to you, to teach you, to encourage you, to advise you, to enlighten your mind. Then calm down completely and listen. You may not notice anything at first, but you will get a little closer to your soul and become sensitive to the word of God in it. After about ten minutes, thank God… and write down what you heard.
The Christian believer is the temple of the Holy Spirit. In him, the Holy Spirit speaks, comforts, teaches, testifies, leads to the whole truth. The Holy Spirit enables the believer to hear and understand him. Much like we hear the voice of conscience. Or as inspiration. Yet the speech of the Spirit in us can also be articulated, expressed in words. This is testified by the prophets of the Old Testament, but also of the New. Saint Paul speaks of how the Spirit taught him, led him, blocked his way, spoke to him. In Joppa, Peter is told by the Holy Spirit to go to Caesarea.
Almost all Christian saints bear witness to this speech of the Holy Spirit. Today, the number of books in which the speeches of the Holy Spirit are recorded is growing.
How to distinguish the speech of the Holy Spirit from the speech of our spirit or our subconscious as well as from the speech of others, especially evil spirits?
Simply: The Holy Spirit is one in the Church, in Scripture and in us. Therefore, as soon as the words I hear in myself are contrary to the teachings of the Church or to the words of Scripture, it is clear that it is not the speech of God. Also, if that speech drives into fear, despair, if it judges instead of calms then it is certainly not the speech of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit comforts, calls to conversion and encourages and brings hope, revives, saves and leads to Jesus, because he is his Spirit. The Spirit of God drives away fear, cleanses from sin, frees from slavery to sin and the flesh. He is the Spirit of freedom.
