WHOSE ARE YOU?
‘And whose are you, you little one?’, I hear the voice of an elderly man in the small Dalmatian town where I spend the summer. The question was addressed to the boy who was running along the waterfront.
Being someone’s means that you belong to someone, that you have a source from which you came, that you have ancestors, parents, family, that you have your birthplace… There are places you experience that you are a stranger, and there are other places that you are ‘home’, that you belong there.
When you deeply realize that you belong to Someone, then you enter into humility because you know that you need Someone, that you cannot and do not know how to live on your own. Being ‘small’ means relying on the One who is strong, big and powerful, who takes care of you. Isn’t that exactly our Creator?
But let us take a small step further, ask yourself what are the things in your life that show you are the Creator’s child? What can other people see in your eyes? What comes out of your heart? And from your mouth? What does your life testify for? Are you His light in your marriage, in your family, in your workplace?
Find at least fifteen minutes in the end of this day to absorb the awareness that the Creator himself is your father, your source, your everything. That you will always be His ‘little one’ and that being near Him is your home, a place where you can be exactly as you are and whenever you stray, you can always return to Him.
