CLOSING THE SOURCES OF EVIL
Man is a traveller on this earth. He just passes through it, he does not stay here forever… Unfortunately, walking along the paths of life from the moment of conception until today, many times we experience injustices, disappointments, loneliness, attacks, insincerity, diseases, insults, wounds and wickedness. This is man’s reality on earth. This is evidenced by the many suffering people who come to our centres for hagiotherapy. If we just observe the people around us, we will see that there is no person who is not ‘bruised’ by evil in some way. In the end, our experiences clearly tell us this.
What does man do when such things happen to him?
Most often, with our own strength, we ‘barehandedly’ go to ‘fight’ against injustice, the person who hurt us, told the truth about us, etc. We justify ourselves, determine who is right and who is wrong, we are so easily ready to attack the other, we fight for our rights and freedom…
Aren’t we a bit naive like that, dear friends? Can we dispel darkness with darkness? Can we use anger, revenge and spite to change the situation for the better? Tell me, has it ever worked for you? Isn’t that exactly the goal of evil? To destroy all that is good, first of all man as the Creator’s favourite, then relationships between people, in marriage, in the family, among friends, to bring discord, enmity, self-pity, meaninglessness…
Can man then, despite all this, be well and be healthy, love and be loved?
Of course he can! There is an Absolute Goodness that is stronger than all evil. Good always has the last word. Evil is only an intruder on Good. Whenever you decide to think, speak and do good, moral, honest, truthful, you are indestructible! Evil cannot do anything to you, because you are close to the Creator himself. His hand guards and protects you!
What should we do?
Ignore evil, pretend it is not there? No, but expose its traps in your life. Do not get ‘hooked’ on the lie, the tempting glow of instant success and pleasure, easy money, immorality and sin that leave us desolate, disappointed and lonely. We need to close the sources of evil in our everyday life, just like an experienced fisherman who mends his net so that his catch does not escape, or a man who closes the holes in the wall of his house after a flood so that it is still strong.
I wish you to be bold and brave in exposing everything that makes you unfree, naive, anxious, rude, angry, unfaithful, lazy… Start a new day with your Creator and He will show you how to get out of it…
Born in Zagreb. Married, mother of two children. By profession master of social work, employed at the Retirement Home in Zagreb. As a high school student, in 1998 she came to the Centre for Spiritual Help in Zagreb seeking help in dealing with her own existential fears. At the same time as going to hagiotherapy, she participates in seminars for new evangelization and since then she has been inextricably linked to the activities of the Community Prayer and Word and the Centre for Spiritual Help in Zagreb, where she has been a volunteer since 2000. She is currently working as a hagioassistant.
