STRENGTH OF THE SPIRIT
I work in a home for the elderly and at this time of the pandemic there are special restrictions in force that recommend postponing all visits to users as well as the exits of the elderly from the institution. In order for users to be able to keep in touch with their loved ones, video calls are enabled. So today I am carrying an official cell phone to an immobile old woman and watching her. She watches in amazement as she can see her sister on that cell phone screen and admires today’s technology. Who would have thought that we would be able to see each other over the phone, she says. And I admire what radiates from her. A fragile body, almost gone, dry lips, gaunt face and gray short hair, and eyes so bright and shiny, full of optimism and cheerfulness. And I keep asking myself:
How fascinating is our spiritual reality! It seems invisible, imperceptible, self-effacing, and yet holds everything! Like the reinforcement of a building. Without it, man would collapse, he could not exist, he would not exist. How much strength in man exactly by the Spirit we have received from our Creator! And not only does he hold everything, but he also fulfills everything. Every thought of ours, every cell, every step, every inhale and exhale, every effort, every work… Everything is imbued with Spirit.
Are you also amazed by today’s science, technology, discoveries? Are you aware that none of this would have happened without the Spirit? And do you know how to admire yourself? Admire another man?
Stay for ten minutes gazing at how superbly woven you are… everything on you is in harmony, just the way it should be… inhale and exhale slowly, do not rush anywhere… become aware – I am here, I am, I exist, right now the Spirit makes every cell of my body alive, touches my thoughts… it holds my fragile body and calms the psyche. I invite you to try today to notice the signs of the action of that Spirit in your life….
